You might know this painting. It's of a Greek statue called "Undine Rising from the Fountain." It was crafted by Chauncey Bradley Ives using marble. It's inspired by the fairytale novella "Undine" written by Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué. The story follows Undine, a water spirit, who marries a knight named Huldbrand to gain a soul. It's a beautiful German romance that has been translated into multiple languages.
